The S100 family constitutes a group of EF-hand calcium-binding proteins implicated in intracellular calcium signaling, cytoskeletal remodeling, and cellular proliferation. Recombinant Human S100A1B (Active) from Antibodies.com provides a biologically active preparation supplied in liquid format at 100 µg per vial, intended for research use in Western blot, ELISA standard curves, immunohistochemistry, and in vitro binding assays.

Active S100A1B retains calcium-binding capacity and is commonly deployed in studies of cardiomyocyte calcium handling, neuronal differentiation, and tumor biomarker discovery. Researchers should aliquot the protein upon receipt and store working aliquots at -80 °C to preserve activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles; the working stock should be kept on ice and protected from light during use.

For functional assays, the protein can be diluted into compatible buffers (e.g., PBS supplemented with BSA) at working concentrations typically ranging from 0.1 to 10 µg/mL, depending on the assay readout. Calcium-dependent binding to target partners such as annexins, RAGE, or tubulin can be probed via pull-down assays, electrophoretic mobility shift, or ELISA.

Common applications include:

Western blot positive control and quantitative standard
ELISA coating antigen for anti-S100A1 antibody validation
Immunohistochemistry antigen-retrieval reference
In vitro calcium-binding studies by flow cytometry or spectrophotometry

Each vial contains 100 µg of unconjugated protein in a buffered liquid formulation. This product is for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic applications. The shipment is sent on refrigerated gel packs to maintain cold-chain integrity.
