Human Pepsinogen II (Active)

This active human pepsinogen II preparation from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 100 µg liquid aliquot of the catalytically competent aspartic protease, generated by acid-mediated conversion of the gastric zymogen progastricsin. The mature enzyme resolves near 36 kDa on reducing SDS-PAGE and cleaves preferentially at hydrophobic and aromatic residues under acidic conditions.

Researchers use this reagent as a positive control or reference standard in pepsin activity assays employing hemoglobin or BSA reporter substrates, and in studies of H. pylori-associated gastritis where elevated pepsinogen II levels in serum reflect corpus mucosal inflammation.
