This Human Neuron Specific Enolase (NSE) active protein from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 100 µg liquid preparation of the enzymatically active gamma-enolase isoform. NSE is a 78 kDa homodimeric metalloenzyme (subunit approximately 39 kDa) that catalyzes the conversion of 2-phospho-D-glycerate to phosphoenolpyruvate in the glycolytic pathway and is predominantly expressed in neurons and neuroendocrine cells. The active preparation retains native catalytic function, enabling enzymatic activity assays, substrate kinetic studies, and use as a calibrator or reference standard in biomarker research.

Researchers employ active NSE in studies of neuroendocrine tumors, small cell lung carcinoma, neuronal injury, and neurodegenerative disease, where it is widely recognized as a circulating tumor marker and indicator of neuronal damage. Recommended storage is at -80 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, with short-term handling kept on ice. The unconjugated, liquid format in a single vial is intended for in vitro research use only and is compatible with Western blot standards, immunohistochemistry controls, and ELISA plate-coating experiments.
