EpiCult-B Kit

Serum-free and fully defined, this culture system supports the in vitro expansion of primary human mammary epithelial cells, maintaining both luminal and myoepithelial populations isolated from normal, reduction mammoplasty, or tumor-derived breast tissue. The EpiCult-B Kit from STEMCELL Technologies provides a complete workflow for breast cancer biology, lineage-tracing experiments, and three-dimensional organoid culture studies, sustaining undifferentiated bipotent progenitor cells across multiple passages.

Each kit contains 500 ml of EpiCult-B Basal Medium along with a frozen Proliferation Supplement that, when combined, deliver EGF, insulin, hydrocortisone, and additional growth factors required for sustained proliferation. The kit format supports flexible passaging schedules, with cells seeded onto tissue culture plastic pre-coated with collagen or other ECM substrates and fed every 2 to 3 days.

Researchers integrate the system into fluorescence-activated cell sorting workflows for EpCAM-positive and CD49f-positive progenitor enrichment, mammosphere formation assays, and in vitro tumorigenicity screens. Components should be kept refrigerated once thawed, with the supplement stored frozen as single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve growth factor activity over the shelf life of the product.
