Description

This Alexa Fluor® 488-conjugated reagent from STEMCELL Technologies is a mouse monoclonal IgG1, kappa antibody (Clone OX-7) raised against rat thymocyte CD90 (Thy1) antigen. It recognizes rat CD90 (Thy1) and mouse CD90.1 (Thy1.1), the latter being an allelic form expressed by AKR/J, PL, and FVB/N mouse strains, and also reacts with guinea pig and rabbit. The antibody does not react with CD90.2, which is expressed by mouse strains such as CBA and BALB/c. CD90 is a GPI-linked membrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, with a 25 kDa core protein that is N-glycosylated at three sites, producing molecules ranging from 25–37 kDa.

In the rat, CD90 is expressed on hematopoietic stem cells, immature B cells, thymocytes, and neurons. In mouse strains carrying the CD90.1 allele, the antigen is found on early-stage hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow, thymocytes, and circulating mature T cells. The clone has been reported to induce leukocyte activation, glomerular nephritis, apoptosis in glomerular mesangial cells, and altered vascular permeability. Flow cytometry (FC) is the verified application; immunofluorescence microscopy (IF) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) are reported uses.

The product is supplied as a liquid in phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide, and is conjugated with Alexa Fluor® 488 under optimal conditions so that the solution is free of unconjugated dye; the antibody was purified by affinity chromatography. For flow cytometry, the suggested use is ≤ 0.25 µg per 1 × 10⁶ cells in 100 µL, with titration advised for each application. Store undiluted at 2–8 °C; do not freeze and protect from prolonged exposure to light. For research use only.
