Description

A mouse monoclonal IgG2a, kappa antibody (clone AA10) from STEMCELL Technologies targets beta-tubulin III, an approximately 50–55 kDa structural protein that forms part of the tubulin heterodimers assembled into microtubules. The beta III isoform, also known as neuron-specific class III beta-tubulin (TUBB3), is expressed primarily in neurons and is widely used as a marker to distinguish neurons from other cell types. The antibody recognizes beta-tubulin III in human, mouse, rat, and other mammalian species and was generated using a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 436–450 of beta-tubulin III conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin. It is supplied in an Alexa Fluor® 488-conjugated format.

The antibody has been verified for immunocytochemistry (ICC) and immunofluorescence microscopy (IF), with flow cytometry (FC) reported in the literature. For immunocytochemistry, a suggested working concentration of ≤ 1.5 μg/mL is recommended, though titration is advised for optimal performance in each application. It is formulated in a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2 containing 0.09% sodium azide, purified by affinity chromatography, and conjugated under optimal conditions with the solution free of unconjugated Alexa Fluor® 488. The product should be stored at 2–8°C, protected from prolonged light exposure, and not frozen.
