Description

This unconjugated mouse monoclonal antibody, supplied by STEMCELL Technologies, is the clone TUJ1 with an IgG2a (kappa) isotype. It was raised against rat brain microtubules and recognizes beta-tubulin III, an approximately 50–55 kDa structural protein that forms part of tubulin heterodimers and contributes to microtubule assembly in neurons. The beta III isoform is expressed primarily in neurons and is widely used as a marker to distinguish neurons from other cell types, with the epitope reportedly mapped to the C-terminal 15 amino acids of the protein.

The reagent reacts with human, mouse, rat and other mammalian homologs (Gene ID 10381). Verified applications include immunocytochemistry (ICC) and immunofluorescence microscopy (IF); reported applications include flow cytometry, IHC, immunoaffinity chromatography, immunoprecipitation and Western blotting. Suggested starting dilutions are ICC 1:1000–1:5000, IHC 1:500–1:5000, and Western blot 1:1000, though titration is recommended for optimal performance. The product is formulated in a phosphate-buffered solution containing 0.03% Thimerosal and purified by affinity chromatography.

STEMCELL Technologies states the antibody is stable at 2–8 °C when stored undiluted and should not be frozen. According to the manufacturer's safety data sheet, the mixture is not classified as hazardous under the GHS or the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard and presents as a clear liquid. The product is for research use only and is not intended for human or animal diagnostic or therapeutic uses unless otherwise stated.
