Description

From STEMCELL Technologies, this monoclonal antibody (Clone OX-7) of the mouse IgG1, kappa isotype targets the CD90 (Thy-1) antigen. It reacts with rat CD90 and mouse CD90.1 (Thy-1.1) — an allelic form expressed by mouse strains AKR/J, PL, and FVB/N — and does not react with CD90.2, which is found in strains such as CBA and BALB/c.

CD90 is a GPI-linked membrane glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The 25 kDa core protein is N-glycosylated at three sites, yielding molecules in the 25–37 kDa range. In the rat, CD90 is expressed by hematopoietic stem cells, immature B cells, thymocytes, and neurons; in mouse strains carrying CD90.1, it is found on early-stage hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow, on thymocytes, and on circulating mature T cells. The OX-7 clone has been reported to induce leukocyte activation, glomerular nephritis, apoptosis in glomerular mesangial cells, and increased vascular permeability.

The reagent is supplied as a clear liquid and is intended for laboratory research use only — not for human or animal diagnostic or therapeutic applications unless otherwise stated. Available conjugates referenced in product data include Alexa Fluor® 488, APC, biotin, FITC, PE, and unconjugated formats. Documented applications include flow cytometry, functional assays, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and Western blot. Per the manufacturer's safety data sheet, the mixture is not classified as hazardous under the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), and containers should be kept tightly closed in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place.
