Anti-Ms SSEA-1 (CD15), MC-480, FI, 100t

Manufactured by STEMCELL Technologies, clone MC-480 is a monoclonal IgM, kappa antibody that recognizes the terminal carbohydrate epitope stage-specific embryonic antigen-1 (SSEA-1), also designated CD15. The antibody is reactive with human, mouse, and rat SSEA-1.

SSEA-1 is carried on a large-molecular-mass (> 200 kDa) glycoprotein found on early mouse embryos, mouse embryonal carcinoma (EC) cells, mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells, and mouse and human embryonic germ (EG) cells. It is not expressed on undifferentiated human EC, ES, or induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, nor on rhesus monkey ES cell lines. On mouse ES cells, expression decreases upon differentiation, whereas on human cells, expression is upregulated during differentiation. SSEA-1 is also present on adult human granulocytes and monocytes, where it is denoted CD15. The marker has reported roles in cell adhesion and migration and in the regulation of cell differentiation.

This clone has been verified for labeling human ES and iPS cells cultured in mTeSR™1 and TeSR™2 media. Recommended applications include flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and Western blot. Available conjugate formats include Alexa Fluor 488, biotin, FITC, PE, and unconjugated. The FITC conjugate is supplied as a fluorescent label suitable for flow cytometry and should be stored at 2–8°C, protected from light and not frozen.
