Anti-Ms SSEA-1 (CD15), MC-480, BT, 100ug

This biotin-conjugated monoclonal antibody from STEMCELL Technologies, clone MC-480, recognizes a terminal carbohydrate epitope on stage-specific embryonic antigen-1 (SSEA-1), a marker also designated CD15. The epitope is carried on a large-molecular-mass (>200 kDa) glycoprotein expressed on the surface of early mouse embryos, mouse embryonal carcinoma (EC) cells, mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells, and mouse and human embryonic germ (EG) cells.

SSEA-1 is not detected on undifferentiated human EC, ES, or induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, or on rhesus monkey ES cell lines. Its expression on mouse ES cells decreases upon differentiation, whereas on human cells it is upregulated during differentiation. The marker is also found on adult human granulocytes and monocytes (where it is referred to as CD15), and SSEA-1 has been reported to participate in cell adhesion, migration, and the regulation of cell differentiation. This clone has been verified for labeling human ES and iPS cells cultured in mTeSR™1 or TeSR™2.

The antibody is of mouse origin with IgM, kappa isotype and reacts with human, mouse, and rat samples (Gene ID: 14345). It is intended for use in flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and Western blot workflows in the area of stem cell biology.
