Anti-Ms F4/80, BM8, AD, 25µg

A rat monoclonal IgG2a, kappa antibody from STEMCELL Technologies, Clone BM8, that targets the F4/80 antigen — an ~160 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein of the EGF-TM7 family of G-protein-coupled receptors. The antibody recognizes F4/80 (also termed Ly-71 in mouse and EMR-1 in human; gene ID 13733) and cross-reacts with human and mouse. F4/80 is described as a marker of choice for identifying mature tissue macrophages, with broad but variable expression in the liver (Kupffer cells), skin (Langerhans cells), bone marrow stroma, pancreas, thymus, spleen (red pulp), lung, and other tissues, as well as on circulating monocytes, eosinophils, and a subset of dendritic cells. Expression levels reportedly rise with macrophage activation.

This Alexa Fluor® 488-conjugated format is verified for flow cytometry, and the BM8 clone is also reported for use in ELISA, ICC, IF, IHC, IP, and WB under non-reducing conditions. The clone has been validated for purity assessments of cells isolated with EasySep™ kits, including the EasySep™ Mouse Monocyte Enrichment Kit and the EasySep™ Mouse CD11b Positive Selection Kit. The immunogen was murine (BALB/c) macrophages obtained from 14-day-old bone marrow cell cultures. Formulation is phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide; purification is by affinity chromatography. The product is stable at 2–8 °C when stored undiluted and should not be frozen.
