Description

STEMCELL Technologies offers this rat monoclonal antibody (Clone 53-6.7) directed against mouse CD8a. CD8a is a 32 - 34 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that forms a subunit of CD8, a disulfide-bonded dimer found either as an αβ heterodimer or an αα homodimer. CD8 acts as a co-receptor for the T cell receptor (TCR) during T cell activation by binding MHC Class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells, strengthening the association between the TCR and the MHC I-antigen complex and amplifying downstream signals through the interaction of its intracellular domain with cytoplasmic tyrosine kinases such as Lck. The CD8a chain binds the alpha-3 domain of class I MHC molecules.

According to published information, the 53-6.7 clone reportedly blocks antigen presentation via MHC class I and inhibits IL-2-dependent T cell responses. The antibody has been verified for cell isolation and flow cytometry and has been demonstrated in flow cytometry analysis of C57BL/6 mouse splenocytes. It is also verified for purity assessments of cells isolated with EasySep kits, including the EasySep Mouse CD8+ T Cell Enrichment Kit and the EasySep Mouse CD8+ T Cell Isolation Kit. Reported applications include cell isolation, flow cytometry, CyTOF, functional assays, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation. The antibody is of the rat IgG2a, kappa isotype.

The product is classified as a laboratory reagent and is intended for research use only; it is not intended for human or animal diagnostic or therapeutic uses unless otherwise stated. The Quality Management System of STEMCELL Technologies Inc. is certified to ISO 13485. The antibody is supplied as a clear liquid and is not classified as a hazardous substance or mixture according to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) or the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200).
