STEMCELL Technologies supplies a PE (phycoerythrin)-conjugated rat monoclonal IgG2a, kappa antibody that recognizes CD49f (integrin α6), an approximately 150 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein that associates non-covalently with CD29 (integrin β1) or CD104 (integrin β4) to form the heterodimeric receptors VLA-6 and α6β4, which bind the extracellular matrix protein laminin. CD49f is a disulfide-linked dimer comprising an approximately 120 kDa heavy chain and an approximately 30 kDa membrane-bound light chain.

CD49f is expressed on the surface of T cells, monocytes, platelets, placental trophoblasts, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells, and is considered the most important marker for selecting mouse mammary stem and progenitor cells. The Clone GoH3 antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope on CD49f and reportedly blocks integrin α6 function in vivo and binding of integrin α6 to laminin in vitro. The antibody was raised against mouse (BALB/c) mammary tumor cells.

Species reactivity includes human, mouse, rhesus, cynomolgus, baboon, chimpanzee, capuchin monkey, cat, cow, dog, horse, pig, rabbit, and sheep. Flow cytometry (FC) is verified and reported for this reagent. The manufacturer's suggested use for flow cytometry is 5 μL per 1 x 10^6 cells in 100 μL, or per 100 μL of whole blood. The product is formulated in a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide and 0.2% (w/v) bovine serum albumin, and is stable at 2 - 8°C when stored undiluted; do not freeze and protect from prolonged exposure to light.
