Anti-Ms CD48 (SLAMF2), HM48-1, AZ, 100µg

STEMCELL Technologies offers an APC-conjugated antibody reagent described as a Hamster (Armenian) monoclonal IgG1 antibody directed against mouse CD48 (SLAMF2), a 45 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein belonging to the signaling lymphocyte activation molecule (SLAM) family and the Ig superfamily. The antibody, clone HM48-1 (isotype IgG1, lambda3), was raised against mouse T lymphoma MBL-2 and is reported to react with mouse CD48.

CD48 is described as playing a role in cell adhesion and T cell activation, with SLAM family members contributing to costimulation, cytotoxicity, and cytokine production. In mice, CD48 is stated to be present on nearly all hematopoietic cells except neutrophils and ESLAM cells (CD45+EPCR+CD48-CD150+ hematopoietic stem cells with long-term self-renewal capacity). The ligands listed for CD48 include CD2 and CD244, and HM48-1 is reported to be capable of blocking CD48:CD2 and CD48:CD244 interactions in vitro and in vivo. Additional functional effects attributed to HM48-1 include inhibition of the proliferative response of spleen cells to mitogens, inhibition of CTL activity, and enhancement of the survival of cardiac allografts.

Verified and reported applications are limited to flow cytometry (FC). The reagent is provided in a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide, and was purified by affinity chromatography before conjugation with APC. For flow cytometry, the manufacturer suggests ≤ 0.25 μg per 1 x 10^6 cells in 100 μL volume and recommends titration for optimal performance. The product is stored at 2 - 8°C undiluted; freezing and prolonged exposure to light should be avoided. The associated gene is identified as Gene ID 12506.
