Description
A rat monoclonal IgG2b, kappa antibody from STEMCELL Technologies, Clone M1/69, FITC-conjugated, recognizes murine CD24, an ~35–45 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein expressed on lymphocytes, granulocytes, thymocytes, erythrocytes, epithelial cells, neurons, and dendritic cells. CD24 is differentially expressed during T and B cell development, is not found on the majority of mature peripheral T cells or plasma cells, and is expressed on pro-B, pre-B, and mature B cells, with expression strongly down-regulated after B cell activation. The antigen acts as an adhesion or co-stimulatory molecule, participating in lymphocyte activation, proliferation, and differentiation through homophilic interactions or by binding to ligands such as P-selectin (CD62P), and is involved in regulating B cell apoptosis and preventing terminal differentiation into antibody-secreting plasmablasts and plasma cells.
Alternative names reported for the target include CD24a, Heat stable antigen (HSA), LyB52, Nectadrin, and Small cell lung carcinoma cluster 4 antigen. The antibody was raised in a Rat (DA) host against C57BL/10 mouse splenic T cells and concanavalin A-activated splenocytes and has been purified by affinity chromatography and conjugated with FITC under optimal conditions, with the solution free of unconjugated FITC. The product has been verified for flow cytometry (FC), and the clone has been verified for purity assessments of cells isolated with EasySep kits, including the EasySep Mouse B Cell Isolation Kit.
Provided as a phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide, the antibody is stable at 2–8°C when stored undiluted; it should not be frozen and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light. For flow cytometry, a suggested use of ≤ 0.25 µg per 1 × 10^6 cells in 100 µL is provided, with titration recommended for optimal performance in each application. The M1/69 clone reportedly induces agglutination and lysis of mouse red blood cells in the presence of complement.
