Description

A biotin-conjugated rat monoclonal IgG2b, kappa antibody (clone M1/69) that recognizes an approximately 35–45 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein expressed on lymphocytes, granulocytes, thymocytes, erythrocytes, epithelial cells, neurons, and dendritic cells, offered by STEMCELL Technologies. The antibody was raised against C57BL/10 mouse splenic T cells and concanavalin A-activated splenocytes and was purified by affinity chromatography before being conjugated with biotin under conditions that leave the solution free of unconjugated biotin.

CD24 is differentially expressed during T and B cell development and is not found on the majority of mature peripheral T cells or plasma cells. It is expressed on pro-B, pre-B, and mature B cells, but is strongly down-regulated after B cell activation. The molecule participates in regulating B cell apoptosis and in preventing terminal differentiation of B cells into antibody-secreting plasmablasts and plasma cells. It serves as an adhesion or co-stimulatory molecule involved in lymphocyte activation, proliferation, and differentiation, engaging in homophilic interactions or binding to ligands such as P-selectin (CD62P). Heterogeneous glycosylation contributes to the variable molecular mass observed across different lineages, and the M1/69 clone reportedly induces agglutination and lysis of mouse red blood cells in the presence of complement.

The product is supplied as a clear liquid in a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2 containing 0.09% sodium azide. Flow cytometry is the verified application, with immunohistochemistry reported in published studies. The manufacturer suggests using ≤ 0.25 µg per 1 × 10^6 cells in 100 µL for flow cytometry, with titration recommended for each application. The antibody should be stored at 2–8 °C undiluted, should not be frozen, and is intended for research use only.
