Description

A mouse monoclonal IgM antibody (clone TRA-1-60R) conjugated with Alexa Fluor® 488, supplied by STEMCELL Technologies, targets TRA-1-60 (podocalyxin), a > 200 kDa pluripotent stem cell-specific surface protein expressed on undifferentiated human embryonic stem (ES), induced pluripotent stem (iPS), embryonal carcinoma (EC), and embryonic germ (EG) cells, as well as rhesus monkey ES cell lines. The antibody reacts with TRA-1-60 from human, rhesus, and rabbit. The recognized epitope is lost upon cell differentiation, contains sialic acid, and — although sialylated — is resistant to treatment with neuraminidase. A soluble form of TRA-1-60 has been detected in serum of patients with embryonal carcinoma.

The antibody was raised against the human embryonal carcinoma cell line 2102Ep cl.2A6, purified by affinity chromatography, and provided in a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2 containing 0.09% sodium azide and 0.2% (w/v) bovine serum albumin, free of unconjugated Alexa Fluor® 488. Verified applications are flow cytometry (FC), immunocytochemistry (ICC), and immunofluorescence (IF); FC is additionally reported. The suggested use is 5 μL per 1 x 10⁶ cells in 100 μL for FC, or a 100X dilution for ICC/IF, with titration recommended for optimal performance. The product is stable at 2 - 8°C when stored undiluted, should not be frozen, and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light.

According to its safety data sheet, the mixture is not classified as hazardous under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) or the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, and the liquid presents as clear.
