Description

STEMCELL Technologies supplies a biotin-conjugated mouse monoclonal antibody directed against human CD90 (Thy-1). The reagent is the 5E10 clone of IgG1, kappa isotype, raised in BALB/c mice against the human HEL erythroleukemia cell line, purified by affinity chromatography, and then conjugated with biotin under optimal conditions; the supplied solution is free of unconjugated biotin. CD90 is described as a GPI-linked membrane glycoprotein that is N-glycosylated at two sites, producing molecules of 25 – 37 kDa, and is implicated in signal transduction, cell adhesion and migration, neurite outgrowth, T cell activation, tumor suppression, and the regulation of hematopoietic stem cell proliferation and differentiation.

The antibody cross-reacts with human, rhesus, cynomolgus, baboon, pigtailed macaque, dog, and pig samples, and is verified for flow cytometry, with ELISA and additional flow cytometry uses reported in the cited literature. It has also been verified for labeling human mesenchymal cells cultured with the MesenCult Proliferation Kit (Human). For flow cytometry the manufacturer suggests ≤ 0.5 µg per 1 × 10^6 cells in 100 µL, and recommends titrating the antibody for optimal performance in each application.

According to the manufacturer, the product is a clear liquid formulated as a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2 containing 0.09% sodium azide. The accompanying safety data sheet states that the mixture is not classified as hazardous under the Globally Harmonized System or the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. The antibody should be stored at 2 – 8 °C in its undiluted form and must not be frozen; for product expiry the manufacturer advises contacting technical support.
