Description

CD73 is a glycosyl phosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein and ecto-5'-nucleotidase that forms a homodimer of ~70 kDa subunits and is expressed on subsets of B and T cells, follicular dendritic cells, mesenchymal stem cells, endothelial cells, and epithelial cells. The enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of 5'-adenosine monophosphate (AMP) to adenosine and plays a pivotal role in the activation of P1 adenosine receptors by regulating extracellular adenosine concentrations. It also functions as a co-signaling molecule on T cells and as an adhesion molecule mediating lymphocyte interactions with endothelium and follicular dendritic cells, and serves as a marker for lymphocyte differentiation and for identifying undifferentiated mesenchymal stem cells.

The STEMCELL Technologies Anti-Human CD73 (Ecto-5'-Nucleotidase) Antibody, Clone AD2 is a mouse (BALB/c) monoclonal IgG1, kappa antibody raised against the human pre-B leukemia cell line 207. It reacts with human, rhesus, chimpanzee, and pigtailed macaque CD73 (Gene ID: 4907) and is supplied unconjugated at 0.5 mg/mL in a phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide, and has been purified by affinity chromatography. Flow cytometry is a verified application, with a suggested use of ≤ 2 μg per 1 x 10^6 cells in 100 μL volume. The product is stable at 2 - 8 °C when stored undiluted and should not be frozen.

Beyond its physiological roles, CD73 is highly expressed in many types of human and mouse cancers and has been implicated in the control of tumor growth, while genetic defects in CD73 have been linked to several immunodeficiency diseases.
