Anti-Hu CD68, Y1/82A, 25µg

STEMCELL Technologies offers this anti-human CD68 antibody (Clone Y1/82A), a mouse monoclonal of the IgG2b, kappa isotype intended for research use. CD68 is an approximately 110 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the sialomucin, LAMP and scavenger receptor families; its heavily glycosylated extracellular domain contains a proline-rich spacer region separating mucin and LAMP domains, and it binds low-density lipoprotein along with certain lectins and selectins, although the overall function of CD68 remains unclear.

The antibody recognizes an epitope distinct from those bound by clones Y2/131, EBM11, Ki-M6 and KP1, and is reportedly more specific for monocytes and macrophages than KP1. CD68 is highly expressed in lysosomes, endosomes and cytoplasmic granules, with weaker surface expression on macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, basophils, dendritic cells and NK cells, and has also been detected in the cytoplasm of γ/δ T cells, LAK cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, subsets of B cells and hematopoietic progenitors, as well as in non-hematopoietic tissues such as liver and kidney. The reagent is tested for flow cytometry (FC) and is also suitable for immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation and Western blot applications.

Available formats include Alexa Fluor® 488, APC, biotin, FITC, PE and unconjugated. Per the manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet, the product is a clear liquid that is not classified as hazardous according to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS), and STEMCELL Technologies' quality management system is certified to ISO 13485.
