Anti-Hu CD56 (NCAM), HCD56, FI, 25t

This mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody from STEMCELL Technologies is a FITC-conjugated reagent specific for human CD56 (NCAM), also known by the alternative names Leu-19, N-CAM, NCAM-1, or NKH1. CD56 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily containing 5 Ig-like domains and two fibronectin type-3 domains in its extracellular portion. The ~140 kDa isoform is considered the prototypic cell surface marker on human NK cells, with around 90% of NK cells expressing CD56 at low density and ~10% expressing the protein at relatively high levels. CD56 is also variably expressed by a subset of NKT cells in peripheral blood, neurons, muscle cells, some stem cells, and in vitro-cultured T cell clones, and is found on several tumor types including myeloma, neuroblastoma, and small cell lung carcinoma cells. The molecule mediates cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion through homophilic and heterophilic interactions, respectively, and has been implicated in activating intracellular signaling pathways, playing important roles in neuronal development both during embryogenesis and in adults.

Produced in a mouse host and raised against full-length human CD56 protein (Gene ID: 4684), the HCD56 clone is of IgG1, kappa isotype. The antibody is verified for flow cytometry (FC), and the clone has been validated for purity assessments of cells isolated with EasySep™ kits. The suggested use for flow cytometry is 5 μL per 1 x 10^6 cells in 100 μL volume or per 100 μL of whole blood; titration is recommended for optimal performance for each application.

The product is supplied as a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide and 0.2% (w/v) bovine serum albumin. It was purified by affinity chromatography and conjugated with FITC under optimal conditions, and the solution is free of unconjugated FITC. For stability, the product should be stored undiluted at 2 - 8 °C; it should not be frozen and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light.
