Description

A mouse monoclonal IgG1, kappa antibody from STEMCELL Technologies, clone HCD56, targets human CD56 (NCAM), also known as Leu-19, N-CAM, NCAM-1, or NKH1. The reagent is conjugated to APC (allophycocyanin) and is verified for flow cytometry. The antibody was raised against full-length human CD56 protein and purified by affinity chromatography.

CD56 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, and the approximately 140 kDa isoform serves as the prototypic cell-surface marker on human natural killer cells, with around 90% of NK cells expressing the marker at low density and roughly 10% at relatively high levels. CD56 is also expressed by a subset of NKT cells in peripheral blood, neurons, muscle cells, some stem cells, and in vitro-cultured T cell clones, as well as by several tumors including myeloma, neuroblastoma, and small cell lung carcinoma. The clone has been verified for purity assessments of cells isolated with EasySep™ kits.

The antibody is supplied in a phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide and 0.2% (w/v) bovine serum albumin, and is stable at 2 - 8 °C when stored undiluted. The reagent should not be frozen and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light. For flow cytometry, the suggested use is 5 μL per 1 x 10^6 cells in 100 μL or per 100 μL of whole blood.
