Anti-Hu CD51, NKI-M9, PE, 25tests

This mouse monoclonal antibody from STEMCELL Technologies, clone NKI-M9, is conjugated to PE and targets human CD51 — also known as the vitronectin receptor α chain or integrin αV. It may be used in flow cytometry, as well as in ELISA, functional assays, and immunoprecipitation.

CD51 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein generated by post-translational cleavage into two subunits of 125 kDa and 24 kDa that are linked by a disulfide bond. It pairs non-covalently with integrins β1 (CD29), β3 (CD61), β5, β6, or β8 to form heterodimeric receptors for extracellular matrix components such as fibrinogen, collagen, fibronectin, laminin, osteopontin, thrombospondin, vitronectin, and von Willebrand factor; the αv/β3 heterodimer formed with CD61 is primarily involved in vitronectin binding. Beyond adhesion and cytoskeletal organization, CD51-containing integrins contribute to signal transduction that influences cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration.

CD51 is broadly expressed on endothelial cells, fibroblasts, monocytes, macrophages, platelets (at relatively low levels), and osteoclasts, and is also found on hepatoma, melanoma, and neuroblastoma cells. The host species is mouse and the isotype is IgG2a, kappa. The manufacturer's safety data sheet describes the reagent as a clear liquid that is not classified as hazardous under GHS, with handling recommended in accordance with good industrial hygiene and storage in tightly closed containers kept in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place.
