Description

From STEMCELL Technologies, this FITC-conjugated mouse monoclonal antibody (clone NKI-M9, IgG2a, kappa) targets CD51, also known as integrin αV or the vitronectin receptor α chain — a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that associates non-covalently with integrin β1 (CD29), β3 (CD61), β5, β6, or β8 to form heterodimeric cell adhesion receptors for extracellular matrix components including fibrinogen, collagen, fibronectin, laminin, osteopontin, thrombospondin, vitronectin, and von Willebrand factor.

CD51 is expressed on endothelial cells, fibroblasts, monocytes, macrophages, platelets (at relatively low levels), and osteoclasts, and is also found on hepatoma, melanoma, and neuroblastoma cells. The antibody was raised against human melanoma cells and is reactive with human CD51. It has been verified for flow cytometry (FC) and reported for FACS, including labeling of human mesenchymal cells grown in MesenCult™ Proliferation Kit (Human) and MesenCult™-XF Medium. For flow cytometry, the suggested use is 5 µL per 1 x 10^6 cells in 100 µL volume or per 100 µL of whole blood, with titration recommended for optimal performance in each application.

The antibody is supplied in a phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide and 0.2% (w/v) bovine serum albumin. It was purified by affinity chromatography and conjugated with FITC under optimal conditions, and the conjugate is free of unconjugated FITC. The product is stable at 2–8 °C when stored undiluted; it should not be frozen and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light.
