Anti-Hu CD51, NKI-M9, BT, 100µg

A biotin-conjugated monoclonal antibody from STEMCELL Technologies targets human CD51 (integrin αV), the α chain of the vitronectin receptor. Clone NKI-M9 is a mouse IgG2a, kappa antibody raised against human melanoma cells and is verified for use in flow cytometry, where ≤ 0.5 μg per 1 x 10^6 cells in 100 μL is recommended, with titration advised for optimal performance.

CD51 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein generated by post-translational cleavage into 125 kDa and 24 kDa subunits linked by a disulfide bond. It associates non-covalently with integrin β1 (CD29), β3 (CD61), β5, β6, or β8 to form heterodimeric receptors for extracellular matrix components such as fibrinogen, collagen, fibronectin, laminin, osteopontin, thrombospondin, vitronectin, and von Willebrand factor. Beyond adhesion and cytoskeletal organization, CD51-containing integrins contribute to signal transduction and modulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration.

Expression is reported on endothelial cells, fibroblasts, monocytes, macrophages, osteoclasts, and platelets (at relatively low levels), as well as on hepatoma, melanoma, and neuroblastoma cells. The product is supplied in phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide, and was purified by affinity chromatography before biotin conjugation under optimal conditions, with the solution reported free of unconjugated biotin. The antibody is stable at 2 - 8 °C when stored undiluted and should not be frozen.
