Description

This mouse monoclonal IgG1, kappa antibody from STEMCELL Technologies binds to human CD45, a type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and mature blood cells, with the exception of mature erythrocytes, platelets, and plasma cells. The antibody, clone 2D1, recognizes the Leucocyte Common Antigen region of CD45—an extracellular region located near the membrane and common to all isoforms of the antigen. CD45 is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase family and is involved in cell activation, growth, differentiation, and oncogenic transformation. Its large cytoplasmic portion contains two tyrosine phosphatase domains, one enzymatically active, that modulate intracellular substrates including Src kinases Lck and Fyn. Alternative splicing of exons 4, 5, and 6 produces up to eight isoforms with molecular masses of 180–240 kDa.

The antibody is conjugated with FITC and has been verified for use in flow cytometry. It was purified by affinity chromatography and is free of unconjugated FITC. The reagent is supplied in phosphate-buffered saline at pH 7.2 containing 0.09% sodium azide and 0.1% gelatin. It remains stable when stored undiluted at 2–8 °C; freezing and prolonged light exposure should be avoided. For flow cytometry, the manufacturer suggests 5 μL per 1 × 10⁶ cells in a 100 μL volume, with titration recommended for optimal performance. The product is for research use only and is not intended for human or animal diagnostic or therapeutic uses.
