STEMCELL Technologies offers a mouse monoclonal antibody (clone HIP8, IgG1 kappa) raised in BALB/c mice against purified platelet membrane glycoproteins. The antibody recognizes the ~125 kDa GPIIbα subunit of human CD41, an integrin alpha-IIb family member expressed primarily on platelets, megakaryocytes, monocytes, and acute megakaryoblastic leukemia cells. It has been reported to block platelet aggregation and to inhibit activation of platelets by ADP, epinephrine, and collagen.

The clone is reactive with human, rhesus, cynomolgus, baboon, capuchin monkey, chimpanzee, and pig samples, and is conjugated to APC after purification by affinity chromatography. It is supplied in a phosphate-buffered solution (pH 7.2) containing 0.09% sodium azide and 0.2% (w/v) bovine serum albumin. Verified and reported applications are flow cytometry, including purity assessments of cells isolated with certain EasySep™ and RosetteSep™ kits.

For flow cytometry, the manufacturer suggests ≤ 5 μL per 1 x 10⁶ cells in 100 μL or per 100 μL of whole blood, with titration recommended for optimal performance. The product should be stored undiluted at 2 – 8 °C; do not freeze, and protect from prolonged exposure to light. For research use only; not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
