Description

From STEMCELL Technologies, this FITC-conjugated mouse monoclonal antibody recognizes the human CD38 antigen. The reagent is clone HIT2 of the IgG1, kappa isotype, raised against human fetal thymocytes, and has been shown to react with human, chimpanzee, and horse cells. Its target, CD38 (also referred to as ADP-ribosyl cyclase or T10), is described as an ~45 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein with ectoenzyme (ADP-ribosyl hydrolase) activity involved in lymphocyte activation, adhesion, and metabolism.

The antibody is verified for flow cytometry (FC) and has been reported in the literature for FC, immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry (IHC). It has also been used to evaluate the purity of cells isolated with EasySep™ Human CD138 Positive Selection Kit II and EasySep™ Human Whole Blood and Bone Marrow CD138 Positive Selection Kit II. For flow cytometry, the manufacturer recommends ≤ 5 μL per 1 x 10^6 cells in 100 μL, with titration advised for optimal performance in each application.

According to the manufacturer's documentation, the antibody is supplied in a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2 containing 0.09% sodium azide and 0.2% (w/v) bovine serum albumin, and was purified by affinity chromatography before conjugation with FITC; the solution is free of unconjugated FITC. The product's safety data sheet describes it as a clear liquid that is not classified as hazardous under the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. It should be stored undiluted at 2 - 8 °C, protected from prolonged exposure to light, and not frozen. STEMCELL Technologies' quality management system is certified to ISO 13485, and the product is intended for research use only and not for human or animal diagnostic or therapeutic uses unless otherwise stated.
