Anti-Hu CD38, HIT2, AD, 100tests

This mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody from STEMCELL Technologies recognizes CD38, an ~45 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by many cell types, especially leukocytes. The HIT2 clone reacts with human, chimpanzee, and horse CD38 and is conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 488. The antibody was raised against human fetal thymocytes.

CD38 is an ectoenzyme (ADP-ribosyl hydrolase) with both cyclase and hydrolase activities that mediates lymphocyte activation, adhesion, and metabolism. CD31 is a known ligand for the receptor. In humans, CD38 is expressed by the majority of hematopoietic cells, with levels varying by differentiation and activation status; it is highly expressed on activated T and B cells and plasma cells, and is also found at high levels in brain, kidney, liver, ovary, pancreas, placenta, testis, and some types of cancerous tissue.

Verified applications include flow cytometry, and the clone has been verified for purity assessments of cells isolated with EasySep™ kits, including the EasySep™ Human CD138 Positive Selection Kit II and the EasySep™ Human Whole Blood and Bone Marrow CD138 Positive Selection Kit II. The reagent is supplied as a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2 containing 0.09% sodium azide and 0.2% (w/v) bovine serum albumin, and was purified by affinity chromatography prior to conjugation; the solution is free of unconjugated Alexa Fluor® 488. The product is stable at 2–8 °C when stored undiluted, should not be frozen, and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light. For flow cytometry, the suggested use is 5 μL per 1 × 10^6 cells in 100 μL or per 100 μL of whole blood, and titration is recommended for optimal performance.
