Anti-Hu CD36, FA6-152, FI, 100 tests

STEMCELL Technologies provides this monoclonal antibody reagent directed against human CD36, a cell-surface protein reported to function as a scavenger receptor, cell adhesion molecule and signal transducer. The reagent uses the FA6-152 clone and is verified by the manufacturer for cell separation and flow cytometry.

CD36 is described as an ~88 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on platelets, monocytes, macrophages, erythrocyte precursors, endothelial and epithelial cells, and some macrophage-derived dendritic cells. It is reported to bind multiple ligands including thrombospondin, collagen, lipoproteins and long-chain fatty acids, with documented roles in the phagocytotic clearance of apoptotic cells, inhibition of angiogenesis, glucose and fatty acid metabolism, inflammation, and the pathogenesis of malaria. Binding of the FA6-152 antibody has been reported to block the interaction of CD36 with thrombospondin, collagen, apoptotic cells and modified LDL, and to induce agglutination of fetal but not adult erythrocytes. Manufacturer flow cytometry data demonstrate labeling of human erythroleukemia (HEL) cells and human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) with this reagent.

The reagent is a mouse monoclonal antibody of the IgG1, kappa isotype, conjugated to FITC. Reported reactive species include human and rat. Documented research applications include cell separation, flow cytometry, functional assays, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, neutralization/blocking, and Western blotting. The associated Gene ID is 948. According to the manufacturer's safety documentation, the mixture is not classified as hazardous under the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard or the GHS, with sodium azide listed at 0.1% as a component.
