Anti-Hu CD326, VU-1D9, UC, 100µg

STEMCELL Technologies supplies an unconjugated monoclonal antibody specific for human CD326 (EpCAM). Clone VU-1D9 was raised in BALB/c mice and is of the IgG1, kappa isotype. The immunogen was the human small cell lung carcinoma cell line NCl.H69.

The antibody recognizes EpCAM, a ~40 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as a homophilic, calcium-independent adhesion molecule. Binding of clone VU-1D9 requires the extracellular EGF.1 domain of EpCAM. EpCAM participates in signaling, migration, proliferation, and differentiation. It is expressed early during erythrogenesis and has been identified as a stem cell marker. The protein localizes to the basolateral membrane of most normal epithelial cells and is highly expressed in bone marrow, colon, and lung. Because EpCAM is not expressed on mesothelial cells or mesotheliomas, it is widely used as a diagnostic marker to distinguish mesothelioma from carcinoma cells and as a target for immunotherapeutic treatment of carcinomas. The clone has also been used to identify and isolate circulating tumor cells. Alternative names for EpCAM include EGP2, ESA, TACSTD1, and TROP.1.

Verified applications include flow cytometry (FC) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), with reported use in cell separation, epitope mapping, and immunofluorescence microscopy. The antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and is supplied in phosphate-buffered saline. The product is stable at 2–8 °C when stored undiluted and should not be frozen.
