Description

This monoclonal antibody from STEMCELL Technologies, clone RPA-2.10, reacts with CD2, an approximately 50 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily, with two Ig-like domains in its extracellular portion. CD2 is broadly expressed on peripheral T cells and NK cells, dendritic cells, erythrocytes, most thymic T cells, subsets of thymic B cells, and on the endothelium. CD2 expression appears early during T cell differentiation, and aberrant expression has been observed in some lymphomas and myeloid leukemias.

CD2 plays a critical role in T cell activation and signaling, and in lymphocyte adhesion. The primary ligand for CD2 is CD58 (LFA-3), located on antigen-presenting cells; additional ligands comprise CD15 (SSEA-1), CD48, and CD59. The RPA-2.10 antibody blocks the mixed lymphocyte reaction and has been verified for purity assessments of cells isolated with EasySep™ kits.

Provided as a primary antibody raised in mouse with the IgG1, kappa isotype, this reagent targets CD2 (Gene ID: 914). It has been validated in baboon, capuchin monkey, chimpanzee, cynomolgus macaque, human, rhesus macaque, pig, macaque, and squirrel monkey. Conjugations available across the product line include APC, biotin, FITC, PE, and unconjugated. Supported applications include cell separation, flow cytometry, functional assays, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and Western blot. The relevant cell type is T cells, and the area of interest is immunology.
