Anti-Hu CD16, 3G8, 500µg

This mouse monoclonal antibody from STEMCELL Technologies, designated clone 3G8, reacts with human CD16 (also known as FcγRIII), a type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein of the Ig superfamily. It has been verified for flow cytometry and cell separation, and the manufacturer lists additional applications including CyTOF, depletion, ELISA, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and neutralization or blocking. The antibody is of the IgG1, kappa isotype.

CD16 exists in two isoforms: CD16a (50–65 kDa), expressed on NK cells, activated monocytes, macrophages, and placental trophoblasts, and CD16b (approximately 48 kDa), a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored form expressed on neutrophils, basophils, and eosinophils that occurs as at least two polymorphic variants termed NA1 and NA2. CD16 binds weakly to the Fc region of monomeric, aggregated, or complexed IgG, particularly IgG1 and IgG3. IgG engagement can modulate antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC), phagocytosis, cytokine release, and proliferation, and because CD16/IgG interactions can cause non-specific labelling in antibody-based detection and cell-separation workflows, the 3G8 antibody may also be employed as a blocking reagent. The antibody has been reported to react with human and several non-human primate species, and is supplied in unconjugated form as well as conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 488, APC, Biotin, FITC, and PE.

According to the manufacturer's safety data sheet, the product is not classified as a hazardous substance or mixture under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) or the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), and is not regulated for transport by DOT, TDG, MEX, ICAO, IATA, IMDG, RID, ADR, or ADN. It is supplied as a clear liquid.
