Description

Offered by STEMCELL Technologies, this mouse monoclonal IgG1, kappa antibody targets CD105 (endoglin), a disulfide-bonded homodimeric cell surface glycoprotein of approximately 180 kDa composed of approximately 90 kDa type I transmembrane subunits. CD105 functions as a component of the TGF-β receptor complex and is expressed on vascular endothelial smooth muscle cells, syncytiotrophoblasts of the placenta, and activated macrophages, with relatively low levels on stromal fibroblasts. Expression is also observed in certain tumors and is up-regulated on the endothelium during angiogenesis.

Clone 43A3 is verified for flow cytometry and has been validated for labeling human mesenchymal cells cultured in MesenCult™ Proliferation Kit (Human) and MesenCult™-XF Medium. The antibody is available conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 488, APC, Biotin, FITC, or PE, as well as in an unconjugated format, and is suitable for flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and Western blot. Reactive species reported include human and mouse. The reagent supports research in endothelial cell biology and stem cell biology, including work with hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem and progenitor cell populations.

CD105 binds TGF-β1 and TGF-β3 with high affinity but does not bind TGF-β2, with other reported ligands including Activin A, BMP-2, and BMP-7. The protein plays important roles in angiogenesis, cardiovascular development, and vascular remodeling, and certain mutations in CD105 are associated with the autosomal dominant disorder hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.
