Description

This Cell-Based ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the measurement of TGF beta Receptor II protein expression in cells using a colorimetric detection method read at 450 nm. The kit is reactive with Human and Mouse samples and operates with a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells. It is supplied in a 96-Well Microplate format with recommended storage at 4°C for 6 months.

The assay uses a lysate-free, high-throughput indirect ELISA format. TGF beta Receptor II is captured by target-specific primary antibodies, and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary antibody. The HRP enzyme catalyses a colourimetric reaction upon substrate addition, allowing qualitative determination of TGF beta Receptor II concentration. The kit is suitable for measuring the relative amounts of TGF beta Receptor II in cultured cells as well as for screening the effects of various treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators.

A monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included to serve as an internal positive control for normalising target absorbance values. Following the colourimetric measurement, the Crystal Violet whole-cell staining method may be used to determine cell density, so absorbance values can be normalised to cell numbers and plating differences adjusted. Database identifiers for the target include Gene ID 7048, UniProt ID P37173, and Gene Symbol TGFBR2. The encoded protein is described as a TKL kinase of the serine/threonine-protein kinase receptor family, with R1 and R2 TGF-beta receptors dimerising after binding TGF-beta at the cell surface.
