Description

From Assay Genie, this Cell-Based ELISA kit offers a high-throughput, lysate-free workflow for the qualitative detection of TEF (thyrotroph embryonic factor) protein expression directly in cultured cells. The assay uses a simple protocol and an indirect ELISA format in which TEF-specific primary antibodies are paired with HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies, producing a colorimetric readout measured at 450 nm. The kit is reactive with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples and is intended for adherent cells.

Signal generation relies on HRP-catalysed substrate conversion, with results normalised through two complementary steps: a monoclonal anti-human GAPDH antibody supplied as an internal positive control, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining to account for cell density. The published dynamic range is > 5000 Cells, and the kit is supplied in a microplate format with storage at 4 °C and a stated shelf life of 6 months.

TEF is a member of the PAR (proline and acidic amino acid-rich) subfamily of bZIP transcription factors (Gene ID 7008; UniProt Q10587; chromosomal location 22q13.2; molecular weight 30,635 Da). It localises to the nucleus, binds DNA, and transactivates the TSHB promoter, with reported roles in positive regulation of transcription from the RNA polymerase II promoter and in rhythmic processes. The kit supports research applications in cell biology, including screening the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on TEF expression in cultured cells.
