Tau (Phospho-Thr205)Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

Assay Genie's cell-based ELISA kit is designed for the accurate detection of phosphorylated TAU at Threonine 205 in cell lysates, offering high sensitivity and specificity for a variety of research applications. Phosphorylation at Thr205 of the TAU protein is a key post-translational modification implicated in Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, and monitoring TAU phosphorylation levels can provide valuable insights into disease progression and potential therapeutic interventions.

The kit uses a qualitative, indirect ELISA format in which Tau (Phospho-Thr205) is captured by specific primary antibodies and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies catalyze a colorimetric reaction at 450 nm upon substrate addition. It is reactive with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, with a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells, and is intended for adherent cells. A monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included as an internal positive control for normalizing target absorbance values, and the Crystal Violet whole-cell staining method may be used to determine cell density.

The assay is lysate-free, high throughput, and sensitive, and can be used to measure the relative amounts of phosphorylated Tau in cultured cells as well as to screen for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on Tau phosphorylation. After colorimetric measurement, results can be analysed by normalizing absorbance values to cell amounts, by which plating differences can be adjusted. The target gene is MAPT (UniProt P10636), encoding the microtubule-associated protein tau.
