Tau (Phospho-Ser214)Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

This cell-based ELISA from Assay Genie is designed for the detection and quantification of tau phosphorylated at the Ser214 residue in cultured cells. It uses a colorimetric detection method at 450 nm and has demonstrated reactivity with human, mouse and rat samples. The kit is reported to have a dynamic range of > 5000 cells.

The assay employs an indirect ELISA format in which phosphorylated tau is captured by Ser214-specific primary antibodies and detected using HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies. A monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included as an internal positive control to normalize target absorbance values, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining is provided for determining cell density, allowing absorbance values to be normalized to cell amounts.

It is targeted at the MAPT gene product (Gene ID: 4137, UniProt ID: P10636), a microtubule-associated protein in which phosphorylation at Ser214 is described as relevant to neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, supporting studies of disease mechanisms, drug efficacy evaluation and the effects of treatments, inhibitors or activators on tau phosphorylation.
