Description

This cell-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the qualitative measurement of Synapsin1 protein levels in cultured adherent cells using an indirect, lysate-free format. Synapsin1 is captured by target-specific primary antibodies, and bound HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies catalyze a colorimetric reaction detected at 450 nm. The assay has a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells and is reactive with human, mouse, and rat samples.

The kit supports screening for the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on Synapsin1 expression. Two normalization approaches are provided: a monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody serves as an internal positive control for absorbance values, while Crystal Violet whole-cell staining can be used to adjust for plating differences by determining cell density. The format is a 96-well microplate with colorimetric detection, and storage stability is given as 4°C for 6 months.

Synapsin1 (gene symbol SYN1, UniProt P17600) is a neuronal phosphoprotein that associates with synaptic vesicles and is implicated in the regulation of neurotransmitter release, synaptic transmission, and axonogenesis. By measuring Synapsin1 levels, researchers can investigate its role in neurodegenerative and neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, as well as in synaptic function more broadly.
