Description

From Assay Genie, this Cell-Based ELISA Kit is designed for the detection and qualitative measurement of Stathmin 1 (Phospho-Ser24) in cells. The assay targets Stathmin 1 phosphorylated at serine 24 and shows reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples. It uses a colorimetric detection method read at 450 nm, with a stated dynamic range of > 5000 cells.

The kit employs a lysate-free, indirect ELISA format intended for high-throughput screening of phosphorylated Stathmin 1 levels in cultured cells. It can be used to assess the relative amounts of phosphorylated Stathmin 1 and to screen the impact that various treatments, inhibitors, or activators have on Stathmin 1 phosphorylation. In the assay, primary antibodies specific for the target capture the phospho protein, while HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind to the Fc region of the primary antibody, catalysing a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition.

Stathmin-1 is described as a key regulator of microtubule dynamics and cell division, with its phosphorylation status at serine 24 being critical for its function. Dysregulation of stathmin-1 phosphorylation has been implicated in diseases including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. The kit includes a monoclonal GAPDH antibody as an internal positive control for normalising the target absorbance values, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining can be used to determine cell density. The product falls within the Developmental Biology research area.
