Description

A cell-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the qualitative detection of phosphorylated SREBP-1 at Ser439 in cultured cells. SREBP-1, encoded by the SREBF1 gene, is a transcription factor that regulates lipid homeostasis, fatty acid synthesis, and cholesterol biosynthesis. Phosphorylation at Ser439 modulates its activity, and dysregulation of this modification has been implicated in metabolic disorders, making it a target of interest for therapeutic research.

The assay uses an indirect ELISA format in which target-specific primary antibodies capture SREBP-1 (Phospho-Ser439), and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies catalyze a colorimetric reaction measured at 450 nm. The kit is described as lysate-free, high-throughput, and sensitive, and can be used to measure relative phosphorylation in cultured cells or to screen the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control for normalization, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining may be used to determine cell density and adjust for plating differences. Reactivity is reported for human and rat samples, the dynamic range is > 5000 cells, the sample type is adherent cells, and the indicated research area is metabolism.

Associated gene data lists Gene ID 6720, UniProt ID P36956, and a molecular weight of 45,816 Da. The sub-type is phospho-specific.
