Sheep IL-5 ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA, double-antibody assay from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of interleukin-5 (IL-5) in sheep samples. Compatible sample types include serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The kit offers a sensitivity of 9.375 pg/mL with a measuring range of 15.625–1000 pg/mL, and reagents are stable at 2–8°C for 12 months.

The procedure uses a biotin-labelled detection antibody and HRP-Streptavidin with TMB substrate, with absorbance read at 450 nm. Incubation steps include 90 minutes for primary binding at 37°C, 60 minutes for detection antibody binding, and 30 minutes for HRP-Streptavidin binding, followed by 10–20 minutes of colour development. Linearity was validated in serum (90–105% at 1:2; 84–94% at 1:4; 85–97% at 1:8), EDTA plasma (85–105%; 83–101%; 81–99%) and heparin plasma (90–105%; 82–94%; 82–97%). Recovery averaged 98% in serum, 92% in EDTA plasma and 97% in heparin plasma.

IL-5 is a key cytokine involved in regulating immune responses, particularly in allergic reactions and asthma, making this kit useful for research into immune function and related therapeutic targets. The analyte is also known as IL5, EDF, TRF, E-CSF and ESGF (Uniprot Q28586).
