Description

A cell-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the qualitative detection of RBM26 protein levels in cells. RBM26, also known as RNA-binding motif protein 26 (RNA-binding protein 26), plays a role in post-transcriptional regulation, RNA splicing, and mRNA stability, and its dysregulation has been linked to cancer and neurological disorders. The kit is intended for use with cell lysates and culture supernatants, and can be applied to measure relative amounts of RBM26 in cultured cells as well as to screen the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on RBM26.

Detection relies on an indirect ELISA format: RBM26 is captured by RBM26-specific primary antibodies, and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of those primaries. Addition of substrate yields a colorimetric reaction read at 450 nm. A monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included as an internal positive control for normalization, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining step can be used to determine cell density so that absorbance values can be normalized to cell amounts. The reported dynamic range is greater than 5000 cells, and reactivity covers human and mouse samples. Storage is at 4°C with a stated stability of 6 months.

RBM26 is reported at a molecular weight of 13,644 Da, maps to chromosomal region 13q31.1, and the human entry is associated with NCBI Gene ID 64062 and UniProt ID Q5T8P6; six isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
