Quantify vaspin, a visceral adipose tissue-derived adipokine linked to obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome research, in rat specimens using this colorimetric ELISA from Assay Genie. The kit provides reagents for 96 determinations and is calibrated for rat-derived serum or plasma specimens, with protocols that also accommodate tissue homogenate analysis.

Vaspin (visceral adipose tissue-derived serpin) is a serine protease inhibitor expressed predominantly by visceral fat depots. Investigators studying type 2 diabetes, PCOS, cardiovascular risk markers, and adipose-derived hormone signaling routinely measure vaspin as a complementary biomarker alongside leptin and adiponectin. The assay employs a sandwich-format immunoreaction with an HRP-based reporter, and absorbance is read on a standard microplate reader. Each kit ships with a pre-coated plate, biotinylated detection antibody, recombinant standards, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, substrate solution, and stop reagent sufficient for the stated number of tests.

Recommended handling: equilibrate reagents to room temperature before use, store the kit refrigerated (avoid repeated freeze-thaw of the working conjugate), and protect the substrate from light. Intended for research use only and not for diagnostic procedures.
