Rat Uroporphyrinogen Decarboxylase (UROD) ELISA Kit

This sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is a quantitative immunoassay for rat Uroporphyrinogen Decarboxylase (UROD), the cytosolic homodimeric enzyme (~40 kDa subunits) that catalyzes the fifth step of heme biosynthesis by converting uroporphyrinogen III to coproporphyrinogen III. UROD is central to porphyria research, particularly investigations of Porphyria Cutanea Tarda (PCT) and familial or sporadic uroporphyrias, where deficient hepatic UROD activity drives uroporphyrin accumulation. The assay uses a 96-well microplate with colorimetric readout and is validated for tissue homogenates and other biological fluids from rat samples, with species-specific antibodies for rat UROD showing no significant cross-reactivity with related porphyrin biosynthesis enzymes such as UROS and CPOX.
