This Assay Genie ELISA quantifies transmembrane protein 27 (TMEM27), also called collectrin, in rat-derived tissue homogenates. TMEM27 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed in pancreatic beta cells and renal tubular epithelium, where it contributes to amino-acid transport, insulin secretory granule dynamics, and renal amino-acid reabsorption. The protein is shed from the cell surface by ADAM10 and BACE2 proteolysis, generating a soluble ectodomain that can be measured in tissue lysates, making the reagent set a useful marker in studies of beta-cell mass, renal physiology, and rodent models of diabetes and kidney injury.

The kit is configured for 96 assays and ships with all buffers, standards, and detection components required to run a complete standard curve on the supplied microplates under standard absorbance plate-reader workflows. Reactivity is restricted to rat samples, with tissue homogenates as the validated sample matrix. Components are intended for in vitro research use only; reconstituted reagents should be aliquoted to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and the kit insert should be consulted for full storage and handling details.
