TRPM6 (Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 6) is a unique channel-kinase that couples ion permeation to an α-kinase domain, playing a central role in transepithelial magnesium transport in the kidney distal convoluted tubule and the small intestine. The Assay Genie Rat TRPM6 ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of this channel protein in rat-derived samples.

The kit supports research into magnesium homeostasis, renal magnesium handling, intestinal absorption, and disorders such as hypomagnesemia with secondary hypocalcemia (HSH), where loss-of-function mutations in TRPM6 disrupt whole-body Mg²⁺ balance. Researchers can use it to evaluate channel expression in tissues such as kidney and intestine, where TRPM6 is most abundantly expressed, under varied dietary, hormonal, or pharmacological conditions.

Each kit contains sufficient reagents for 96 individual determinations and is intended for research use only. The assay is configured to work with tissue homogenates prepared from rat specimens, and the procedure produces an absorbance-based readout compatible with standard laboratory plate readers.
