Description
From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative detection of transferrin receptor in rat samples, supporting research areas including cell biology. The colorimetric, double-antibody sandwich assay accepts serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples, and is read at 450 nm after TMB substrate development. The reported sensitivity is 0.188 ng/mL with a working range of 0.313–20 ng/mL, and unopened kits are stored at 2–8°C for 12 months.
The transferrin receptor mediates cellular iron uptake and is implicated in conditions such as anemia, neurodegenerative disorders, and cancer, making this kit useful for studies of iron metabolism and homeostasis. Across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma (n = 5), reported recovery ranges fall between 85–105% with linearity of approximately 80–105% at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions. Documentation references UniProt Q99376 and synonyms including TFR, CD71, TFRC, TFR1 and TRFR.
The protocol covers reagent and plate preparation, a 90-minute primary incubation at 37°C, a 60-minute biotinylated detection antibody step, a 30-minute HRP-streptavidin (SABC) binding step, 10–20 minutes of colour development in the dark, and absorbance measurement at 450 nm following stop solution addition.
