The Assay Genie rat TFF2 immunoassay enables researchers to quantify Trefoil Factor 2, a mucin-associated secretory peptide predominantly expressed in gastric and duodenal epithelium, in experimental rat samples. TFF2 contributes to mucosal restitution, goblet cell function, and the innate defense of the gastrointestinal lining, and altered circulating levels have been reported in rodent models of gastric ulceration, inflammatory bowel disease, and gastric adenocarcinoma.

This kit is supplied in a microplate format and is intended for research use only, supporting studies in gastrointestinal biology, mucosal immunology, and preclinical drug evaluation. Reconstituted reagents should be stored at -20°C, and the plate strip holder should be kept dry and protected from light when not in use. Standard curve preparation follows an eight-point serial dilution, and each vial of capture antibody and detection reagent is sufficient for the full plate run when aliquoted appropriately to limit freeze-thaw cycles.

Beyond quantitative measurement of endogenous peptide across sample matrices, the assay is frequently used to assess TFF2 induction in response to Helicobacter or NSAID challenge, to track restitution after injury, and to compare expression across transgenic or knockout rat lines. Researchers investigating spasmolytic polypeptide-expressing metaplasia (SPEM), a gastric repair phenotype linked to chronic inflammation, also rely on this kind of quantitative read-out to complement immunohistochemistry and qPCR data.
