Quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie for measuring Tryptophan-2,3-dioxygenase (TDO; also known as TDO2) in rat specimens. TDO is the heme-containing enzyme that catalyzes the first and rate-limiting step of the kynurenine pathway, converting L-tryptophan into N-formylkynurenine, and it is studied extensively in hepatic enzyme regulation, tumor immunology, and neuroinflammation research.

The kit provides 96 assays per microplate, supports in vitro research use only, and requires refrigerated storage to preserve reagent activity. Each kit contains pre-coated plate, standards, detection antibodies, and buffers required to generate a standard curve and quantify TDO levels in experimental rat samples.

TDO2 is predominantly expressed in the liver but is also found in the brain, where aberrant kynurenine pathway activity has been linked to depression, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease models. In oncology, many tumors overexpress TDO2 to deplete local tryptophan and suppress anti-tumor T-cell responses, making TDO a target of interest in cancer immunotherapy research. The rat model offers a well-characterized system for studying these pathways.
